During the meeting, both organizations exchanged insights about their respective visions, missions, and programs\ndesigned to address challenges in the coffee sector\u2014particularly those related to climate change and the resilience of\ncoffee farmers. Represented by Ms. Tania Humphrey (Director of Research &amp; Development), WCR shared their work on\ndeveloping improved coffee varieties, while YASI presented its approach to empowering smallholder farmers through\nsustainable agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussion, WCR outlined its four key program areas: breeding, field and quality trials, nursery system\ndevelopment, and global coffee research leadership. These programs aim to enhance the diversity of coffee varieties\nand support the long-term sustainability of the global coffee sector. On the other hand, YASI highlighted its empowerment\ninitiatives based on eco-friendly agriculture and climate change adaptation\u2014approaches that have proven effective in\nimproving food security and increasing the incomes of local farmers.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was marked by mutual recognition of each organization\u2019s strengths. WCR acknowledged the important role\nYASI plays in reaching coffee farmers across Indonesia and its ability to implement programs directly in the field.\nMeanwhile, YASI gained a deeper understanding of WCR\u2019s coffee varietal research, which opens new possibilities for\nimproving coffee productivity in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>As a next step, YASI and WCR agreed to maintain communication and continue exploring each other\u2019s programs in\ngreater depth.
