YASI's Community Empowerment & Sustainable Agriculture Program with Corteva - Women Farmers' Empowerment: Financial and Health Literacy Training for a Brighter Future

During September and November 2024, the Agri Sustineri Indonesia Foundation (YASI) successfully conducted a women farmer empowerment training that significantly impacted 552 participants in Lampung and West Java Provinces. Supported by Corteva and Global Giving, the training focused on financial literacy and family health, aiming to strengthen the capacity of women farmers in managing household finances and promoting family well-being. The participants—ranging from farmers to small business owners—showed high enthusiasm and gained practical knowledge that empowered them to improve both their economic conditions and quality of life.

The training was held in three strategic locations: Central Lampung, East Lampung, and Karawang, using interactive and participatory methods. Participants were taught how to manage household budgets, distinguish between needs and wants, and plan finances for small enterprises. They also received education on the importance of balanced nutrition, stunting prevention, and clean and healthy living practices. The sessions were enriched with case studies and discussions, allowing participants to immediately apply what they learned in their daily lives.

Following the training, participants demonstrated a strong understanding of financial and family health management. Evaluations showed a significant improvement in financial literacy, with participants now able to plan and manage household budgets more effectively. Additionally, their knowledge of nutrition, stunting prevention, and healthy living increased, bringing positive impacts to their families. The training equipped them with practical skills that can be directly applied to improve both their economic and health outcomes.

The success of this program was made possible through the close collaboration between YASI, women farmer groups, local governments, and local financial institutions. With the support of multiple stakeholders, the training not only ran smoothly but also created sustainable impact. YASI remains committed to expanding the reach of this empowerment program to support more women across Indonesia and contribute to sustainable development. This initiative marks a significant step toward a brighter future for Indonesia’s women farmers.
